How to get a great self-tan..and keep it
You can give your skin the look of summer - without the sun - for as long as want. Glorious, healthy, natural color that makes you looked tanned from top to toe.
Right now, the facial and body tanners work better than ever before. Many giving a natural tan within 24 hours, and with regular application (every few days) the color will develop and deepen and adapt to your own skin tones.
A tanned look often means less makeup is needed. Some contours created with a big soft brush dipped in bronzing powder, a high gloss lip tint and thickly defined lashes sets your face up for the day.
Remember the golden rules when applying tanning lotion, spray or oil.
- Exfoliate. Exfoliate. Exfoliate. There nothing like dead skin to give your fake tan a short life. Get rid of it in the shower or bath used a exfoliating scrub or a mitt. Use a gentler exfoliator on your face but the same rules apply.
- De-fuzz. Get rid of unwanted hair. Your tanning lotion will glide on easier and, of course, no one should have hairy legs in the summer. No one.
- Apply your tanning lotion evenly using long strokes. Massage thoroughly into your skin, firmly but gently.
- Wash your hands as soon as you have finished applying the tanning lotion. Avoid colored palms in the morning.
- For stubborn areas such as elbows, knees and heels, finish off the application with a small dollop of your favorite body cream. It blends the tanning lotion in easier in these drier areas to avoid lines and stains.
- Leave between 5 and 15 minutes before getting dressed again or going to bed. Walk around naked, make a sandwich and fix yourself a drink. But avoid clothing.
- Get some sleep. There's nothing like waking up the next morning and seeing your body transformed into a beautiful bronze glow. And you'll smell great too.
