Summer's Best Beauty Tips

Walking barefoot with the sun in your face means that the best time of year is finally here. Skin glows and is smooth and supple, nails grow twice as quick, and a light dusting of sheer makeup is all that you need to face summer beautifully and easily.

Here are some of the summer's best beauty tips and advice to keep you looking your best thoughout the warmth of the day:

  • Suntanned or not, if you have light hair and skintone, your foundation and/or face powder should not be darker. Simply use your foundation as usual, then lightly dust bronzing powder over your face - very lightly - to help accentuate and even-out your sun-kissed look.
  • If your eyebrows have become bleached with the sun, there is an easy way to darken them naturally again to accentuate your eyes. Simply dot a brown eyebrow pencil over your overbrows, and then take a firm eyebrow brush and brush the colour into your eyebrows. This will give a natural finish to your eyebrows and avoid any harsh lines.
  • Is your eyeshadow gliding around in the heat? Press a little translucent powder onto each eyelid with a clean and dry makeup sponge in the morning. Then apply eyeshadow with the brush. Avoid using creme eyeshadow for daytime as these have less staying power. Keep these for applying party makeup in the evening.
  • Are you looking tired from too many late summernights? Try applying your eyeshadow to your upper lids only, this will avoid drawing attention to the base of your eyes.
  • Try tucking away your black mascara until the Autumn. Brown mascara in the summertime is much more flattering.
  • Don't go anywhere without a small compact of pressed translucent powder in your handbag. It's ideal for quick touch-ups when makeup starts to slide especially around the T-zone of your nose, forehead and chin.
  • Don't over-expose your skin to the sun's harmful rays. Instead invest in a great self-tanning cream and fake it!
  • Finally, try to lighten up your makeup bag. A good all-round brown eye pencil can work for lining the eyes and for emphasising eyebrows. A good powder bronzer can be used in place of a face powder. All lipsticks should be banished in place of summer-friendly lip gloss for perfect, sheer, shiny lips.
