Why Fake Tans are the Way to Go!

Around half of all women I know fake it. Not often during the winter months, but definitely all summer long. And do you know what? Faking it is easier and better than it ever has been before.

A tan, that is.

Fake tanning products started to overwhelm the beauty counters a little over 10 years ago. A time when the dangers of natural sunlight harming our skins was in the headlines, plastered across magazine covers, and on wall posters in the doctors office.

And the number of solariums and tanning salons slowly started to diminish from our high streets.

And lets face it. Many of us bought into the "pale is more interesting" line. During the winter months, at least. But for the most of us, we like some color during summer. And why not? Skin looks healthier, more radiant and needs less help to look good without makeup.

Self tanning products, some made specially for the skin on our face, have become better and more trustworthy as the years go by. Tell-tale orange streaks were left behind with the departure of the 80's and a range of quality products from the top makeup and skin care beauty houses became available.

Now we can choose from mousses, sprays, oils or creams. Self tanning products that are either tinted or not, that glide on easily, disappear into our skins and are competely dry in just 5 minutes. Colors that blend with our skin tones to give a realistic, sun-kissed rather than sun burnt look. Applied every 4 days or so, and your skin can be gloriously colored throughout the entire summer.

And you smell great. And you are not damaging your skin from over exposure.

That means no sun spots, wrinkles, leathery texture, skin cancer, unsightly moles, peeling skin, burnt calves, shoulders or noses. It means a giant leap forward in educating us that sun bathing is just plain idiotic and unnecessary. That covering up is the cool, not to mention, sensible thing to do. That carrying a bottle of high protection factor 30 or more is equivalent to a good fashion accessory.

And it means you stay looking younger for longer. Now, who would argue with that?
