You may have great skin and a healthy body, but there aren't many of us who feel totally good if our hair fails us miserably. Bad hair is noticeable, never mind the fact you may have flawless skin.
Diet plays a key factor in maintaining healthy hair. Plenty of fresh water, vitamins and minerals will help ensure your hair stays healthy and glossy.
Always use a quality shampoo, and one made especially for your type of hair. And always, always, follow up with a conditioner. If you don't bother using one now, you won't believe the different it makes when you start using a conditioning rinse regularly. It helps eliminate slit ends, static and tangles, and adds shine and manageability.
Did you know that the ages most women opt for a radical change of hair style are 24 years and 37 years old? Partly due to pressure from the world of fashion, but mostly related to either looking more mature (at age 24) or looking less like our age (at the age of 37).
At 24 years old, we are shaking of shaking off our younger years for good, perhaps leaving the world of studying and dormitories and heading for the world of business or worldy travel. Either way, a turning point is reached. Young women at 24 years old are more willing to put aside some (probably still scarce) money for a decent professional haircut and color. They are more choosy about hair products, and aim to look chic most days.
They want to look nothing like their high school graduation photos, and hair along with makeup and clothing undergoes a complete overhaul. Not a whisper of what used to be.
When we reach the grand old age of 37, there are other factors. Now children are perhaps out of baby stage, we are less entrenched in the diaper-feeding-napping routines that we forget ourselves.
Rather than the "me" coming last, women of 37 start to feel like their old selves. Bodies are back in shape and working hours are stretched to becoming longer. We demand more of ourselves and we become experts in multi-tasking.
And of course there is the other factor - age.
There is something about the thought of approching 40 that brings out the "take control" in most women. While it's not necessarily fear of getting older, it is definitely in part that we don't want to look like we're soon out of our thirties.
We still want to be fun and fashionable. A hip mom and a beautiful wife. And a new haircut - a radical change in hair style - goes hand in hand with approaching the anti-wrinkle cream counter with earnest.
