The Agony of Acne

It's fair to say we are pretty obsessive about our skin - and about our acne. After all, when others aren't looking at us we are looking at ourselves.

And bad skin notices, first above anything else - especially facial acne.

There are many us of who believe that we wave goodbye to acne when we leave our teens behind. So why are there millions of us still suffering the pain and embarrasement of acne over 10 years later? And the problem can still exist well into our forties in the form of acne scars.

There are definitely tips, help and acne advice out there for most of us who suffer from facial acne, acne scars or bad skin in general.

It can be in the form of professional help from dermatologists with specialised treatments, by using some of the excellent products now available in our pharmacies, or by buying products through specialised outlets.

The trick is, to discover what really works for you and your bad skin. But before any external treatments can successfully work on acne, the skin needs to be cleansed from the inside.

As a living organ, and one constantly on show, our skin reacts to good nourishment and pure fluid.

Eating healthy food and drinking a lot of water is the first step towards helping bad skin become clear again. Be good to your body on the inside, and it will show on the outside.

Remember the importance of good exfoliation. This may also help minimize acne scars. Skin is constantly renewing itself. But new skin should not be hidden under old, dead and rough top skin. You need to slough it away, gently, everyday. Apply your favorite skin cleanser containing tiny beads of exfoliator using fingertips, or squeezed onto a clean face cloth and rubbed over your face and neck. Massage your skin gently and thoroughly. Rinse away with tepid water.

Your skin will take on a new lease of life and be well prepared for the treatments you are about to apply.
