Did you know that probably over 60% of women don't get enough calcium in their diet?
A Swedish study showed that out of 1000 women who volunteered for diet trials, only 33 percent of them actually had enough calcium in their daily diets to maintain skeletal strength.
Calcium strengthens the skeleton and is very important in preventing bone loss. Many women are at risk of being affected. Boneloss means that the skeleton becomes so fragile and is susceptible to breakage easily in a fall. As we age, the a strong skeleton is needed to ensure we retain a good posture, which in itself will lead to less aches and pains throughout our body.
In order that the body can easily absorb calcium, vitamin D is also required. Look out for milk drinks at your health counter that include extra calcium and vitamin D. A diet rich in dairy foods will increase your intake of calcium and vitamin D, and it's also wise to talk to your pharmacist or health food advisor about supplements in the form of tablets.
