Foot Massage, your Step-by-Step Guide

Whether a foot massage is given by a professional, by your partner or by yourself, the fantastic stimulation received by the soles of our feet can relieve numerous other frustrations in our mind and body.

Where to start:

Choose a favourite foot product, such as a lotion, cream or oil. Peppermint scented foot preparations have been around for years and still remain on the best seller list of foot care products.

Choose a comfortable place to sit and start of by soaking feet in a foot bath. If you don't own one then sitting safely on the edge of your bathtub with your feet in water will work as well.

The use of bath salts will soften the skin and start to relax you ready for your foot massage.

After soaking your feet, dry them thoroughly paying particular attention to the skin in between your toes.

Rub your chosen cream between your hands and start off by stroking the foot. Work from your toes upwards to the direction of your heart. First the top of the foot and then the base.

A minute or two of ankle rotations of each foot will loosen the muscles and joints.

Use the thumb to apply pressure to each part of the base of your foot, holding for a few seconds on each point. Use the knuckles to knead the bottom of the foot all over.

Each toe should be individually rubbed and pulled away from the foot to stretch it very gently.

A 15 minute foot massage on each foot will leave your feet feeling soft, supple and relaxed. As a result of foot massage, your whole body should feel relaxed and refreshed.
